About Bienassis
Bienassis Castle gives you an insight into life in a château from the 15th century to today.
Situated in Erquy, in Brittany’s Côtes-d’Armor, it has been classified as a historic monument since August 29, 1945, with the classification extended in 2012 and 2013 by more general decrees.
Behind its crenellated walls and moats that still hold water lies a stunning Renaissance façade of pink Erquy sandstone. The estate’s grounds, including a forest park, a French garden, and a vegetable garden, span more than 60 hectares.
The estate’s history begins with references to a 12th-century feudal mound. The first stone château, still standing today, was built in the 15th century. Over the centuries, the estate has belonged to many families, each leaving their mark on the residence and its park.
Bienassis Castle has been continuously inhabited for over a century by the same family: the de Kerjégu family.
Getting to Bienassis
Everything is arranged to welcome everyone, regardless of their condition.
Getting around
Visitors with reduced mobility can access the Bienassis estate, its château, and gardens via a ramp, with the exception of the kitchens and chapel, located in the basement and on the upper floor. Please be aware that, due to the château’s medieval design, the ramp entrance is only 80 cm wide and is suitable for standard wheelchairs only.
Dogs
You are welcome to bring your dog when visiting Bienassis, provided it is kept on a leash outdoors.
We kindly ask that you clean up after your dog and prevent it from urinating on the boxwood in the French gardens.
Indoors, because of the fragile wooden floors, dogs are permitted only if they can be carried.
Parking
Even with a vast estate, parking is conveniently located near the ramparts, allowing visitors easy access to the château.
We kindly ask drivers to use the grassy parking area, with its entrance on the left at the end of the forest driveway leading up to the château.
We kindly ask that you follow the signage and avoid driving down the central driveway.
Concession rates
We offer reduced rates for students, visitors with disabilities, and job seekers, upon showing appropriate proof.
Please note that there is no reduced rate for seniors.
